Nonresidential fires resulted in over 2.4 billion dollars in damages to business owners. Fire safety training is an extremely useful investment for any business. It teaches employees about things they should and shouldn’t do in case of a fire. Here are three things that you should never do if a fire breaks out.
Using the elevator to escape during a fire is a bad idea. Fires spread rapidly and can affect electrical systems. If you use an elevator during a fire outbreak there’s a high chance that you might end up getting stuck in it and if you don’t die from the fire you might from asphyxiation from being stuck in there for a long time. Just take the safer route and use the stairs.
Hiding will do you no good in case of a fire. If you’re scared or panicking, hiding from the fire will only make things more dangerous for you as it travels fast. Try to keep calm and look for an escape route. Stay away from any burning objects and try to stay close to the center instead of the walls where any burning beams or poles might collapse.
